Win XP installed twice on the same partitiion

Hi, I made a big mess, trying to reinstall win xp. I did not format and
installed a second operating system on the same partition. Now the computer
does not let me format and I cannot delete the old operating system.
Every time I restart ot turn the computer on, it asks me to choose between
the two (old and new).

Could you help me? I want to completely delete the old setup and continue
running the new one. Thank you.
