Win XP Home Networking to Win 2000 Server

I have been getting conflicting answers on this. I have a Windows 2000
Server, and previously had a Windows 98SE machine networked to it.

I recently upgraded to a laptop with XP Home, and was able to network it to
the server rather easily. However, about once a day the laptop seems to lose
its connection and you need to log in to the server again. This causes
problems such as my backup not being able to run, and the printer becomes
unavailable.

Is there a way to make this work with XP Home, or do I really need to pay to
upgrade to XP Pro solely to fix this problem?

Thanks,
Brian

Are you using a domain? XP Home can't join a domain - but it can access
resources on any other server or workstation across the network, providing
there's a connection & you provide the appropriate remote credentials.

What do you mean by 'seems to lose its connection' - what are the exact
symptoms? What do you see in your event logs on the laptop?
