Hi!
When I was using WIN 98 SE, I could put a program in the System Tray
and there it would stay forever, there and also in MSCONFIG.

In WIN XP, I'm lucky to have it stay there for the rest of the day!
Case in point - Norton Anti-virus 2004.

In configuring Norton, it has a box to check if you want to put it in
the System Tray. It just won't stay there!!! Not long after, it is not
even in MSCONFIG!

What's wrong with my system??? Norton? Microsoft? Msconfig?

heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

I'd say update your virus definitions, then reboot into Safe Mode and
do a full system scan. There are viruses that will disable you virus
protection. You can run Live Update from the Start menu. If Live Update
won't connect, then go to windows\system32\drivers\etc and rename your
HOSTS file. If it connects OK then that means the malware has also added
entries to your HOSTS file to prevent contacting the Norton update site.
