startup tray

I want to remove some stuff in my startup tray area like printer, norton
security and the like. I tried msconfig and has a lot of things there that i
wasn't sure of so I left it alone. Is there a program that is safe to use
where you can get the junk out without causing problems with the system?

If you mean the area of the Taskbar to the left of the system time, it
is usually called the Notification Area.

Here is one article and you can use some Google searches for more

Come back if you have any questions after reading. Clutter is

Go into the programs' preferences/options and do it there first and
reboot. If you like, you can post what's in MSCONFIG after you've done
that so we can tell you what's safe to remove.
