Win XP Freezing Up

BlankRecently, (after some MS updates ) my XP-Pro started locking up. this
usually occurs when I am opening/closing folders. It usually recovers
after a couple of minutes.

It does this quite often and is very annoying. I have used Ad-Aware
checking for spyware, ran Norton Works checking for whatever it could find,
everything checked OK.

Any help appreciated! Thanks

As you mentioned "after some MS updates"...
Try uninstalling updates starting with the most recent one.
See Configuration screen, then Software.
But beware, updates show up again.
The is a way to skip certain updates but I forgot how.
