Ok, power outage other day and hd goes bonkers. Utilities etc. no avail so
out it comes. Put in new hd, format it, install XP Pro, update drivers for
video and audio, check all's working after reboot. Disconnect at kitchen
table and reconnect in rec room to stereo and tv etc. (used for multi-media
serving). Install XVID codec, VLC player and WinAmp. Copy mp3 over and
WinAmp plays it fine. Copy movie over network, start movie with fresh VLC
installed. Plays for couple minutes then freezes and locks up pc forcing
cold boot. Boots brings up NTDLR missing!!!

WTF!!!!

Oh I so so so wish people could bill companies for time wasted dealing with
crap they sell. Betcha this bs would disappear real fast.

Would you like some cheese to go with your whine ?

Buy a UPS for a graceful shut down. Take responsibility for your own
actions instead of blaming others.

That's what this guy does, apparently. I just looked back in my archive
and found that he posts nothing but pointless whines that blame
Microsoft for problems of his own making. Now history is repeating.

Oh goodie, a noise post from someone with no intention of wanting help.

You discard a working hard disk rather than reusing it. You're
unwilling to troubleshooting the problem. It's a good bet you didn't
even bother to implement proper anti-static procedures before opening
the case and putzing around inside. You provide no details, like
whether they are PATA or SATA drives, the BIOS boot drive order, or what
is inside the boot.ini file (but then you probably don't know about this
file or how to get it off an NTFS partition). No mention of FAT or NTFS
for the OS partition. No idea if you changed the order of the hard
drives for their physical detection order by leaving in the old hard
drive and sliding in a new one, sliding the new one in the same place as
the old one, or what you did physically to use the new hard disk.

YOU built the computer. You elected to be the system fabricator AND you
elected to be the administrator of the operating system. So it's your
fault that you didn't get a compatible hardware/software platform.
Since you built the system, go bill yourself. If you pay someone else
to do all that then go bill them (or have them redo the build). You
built the setup and you created the problem but, oh yes, it must surely
be someone else's fault.
