Win XP dial up Password

Just tried to connect to the Internet having installed Win XP on new computer.
The problem I have is when I enter the password for my ISP connection, which is in capitals,a box pops up saying this may cause problems if I use the Caps-lock key. I can enter the password ( 8 characters) using the caps lock or using the shift key but when it is saved it changes to a password with 16 characters. When I try to connect to the internet I then keep getting a message which says my password is wrong.

Anyone know how to get around this problem.

It does not save your password as 16 characters. It only appears that way.

The idea is that someone knowing the length of your password may allow them
to guess it. So whenever XP displays the asterisks, it shows 16 of them,
regardless of the length of your password.

Also, the popup that warns you about the Caps-Lock key doesn't change how
the password goes in. It's just a warning. The most common problem people
have with inputting their password is accidentally having the Caps-Lock key
on.

Contact your ISP. Have them change the password while you are online. Then
change it after you get on.
