I have a vivanco smart keyboard ez3000, and I have an unusual problem with
the keys of the keyboard....
1. when i press the big "enter key" (return) it adds a dot at the end and
goes to the next line or sometimes otherwise.
2. the @ key with shift+2 enters a " key and viceversa.
3. the dot key in the num pad enters a dot and goes to next line.
4. the small enter key in the numpad activates the caps lock.
5. the caps lock key imaps the enter key and activate the caps lock.
6. the nuber 6 in the numpad get me this #6.
7. the right windows key gets me an enter and activate caps lock also but
doesnt bring the start menu up.
8. the key next to the right shift gets me a # and ~ (with shift pressed).

I tried changing the language, uninstalling the drivers, turning off the
text services and all of that didnt work.
Please help

PD: when i bring the on screen keyboard and press from there those keys, it
works fine.

Perhaps your "vivanco smart keyboard ez3000" isn't so smart anymore - try
some keyboard that belongs to a friend. If it works, try your Vivanco
keyboard on the friend's PC. This will tell you if the keyboard has had it.

Are you, by any chance, referring to text written in a 'Command Prompt'
(or DOS-box) window?

Otherwise - changing the keyboard layout (right-click on the 'Taskbar'
and choose 'Toolbars' > 'Language Bar' then right-click on the
'Language Bar' now displayed in the 'Taskbar' and choose 'Settings) to
"United Kingdom" will usually solve the problems you are having as on a
UK format keyboard :

the shift-2 = "
and the shift-3=£

Also the @ sign is above [shift] the single quote ' character.

(In 'Language Bar' settings, you may have to press the 'Add' button to
add the 'United Kingdom' keyboard layout')

Changing the 'Command Prompt' keyboard is slightly different.

You have to locate the file c:\WINDOWS\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT

Open it and type in a line thus :

kb16.com uk,850,C:\WINDOWS\system32\keyboard.sys

This will do the same for the 'Command Prompt' as selecting "United
Kingdom" has in the 'Language Bar'

Anything in the language selection options work, ive tried severeal times,
changing to UK layout doesnt work....
i found that also in command prompt it has the same problem when is in
windows.
also in the safe mode has the same problem, but in dos (safe mode with
command prompt) it doesnt.
Everything was good last week... untill some day this happend.
the system restore doesnt work

Time to try a different keyboard.
