win update

recently had to format hd.after reinstalling XP pro,i
have been trying to redo all the updates.the install
window says it has downloaded & installed all the updates
i have choosen,but when i go to win. update the same
updates are listed as needed to download & install.this
has happened atleast 8 times,there are no error messages
