I was with DirectX 9.0c and SP1a.Then I decided to install Service Pack 2
v.2096.I think it is beta not the final but anyway. So when I isnstalled
Collin McRae 2005 Demo today the game gave me error.I checked DXDIAG and what
i saw:Version:DirectX 9.0b.I tried to update it with 9.0c but no result.The
installations skips the process and tells me:Your system is ready or
something like this and the only way is to click Finish.HELP me I want to
play new games on my computer.

I have downloaded the file not from win update. On "winver" I see:
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp2_sp2_rc1.040311-2315 : Service Pack2, v2096)

Hi

That's a Beta version you're running. RC1 is 'Release Candidate 1'. It's
best to uninstall that first - although some people have said that upgrading
to SP2 RTM from v 2096 worked for them.

Now I am downloading the final version. But I have to decide something. When I
tryed to uninstall SP2 beta the setup told me that some of my aplications may
not work properly after this and I canceled. It would be better to update it
with the final version without uninstalling that on my computer now.How do
you think?

I'd suggest that your computer is being over cautious... which is a good
thing in many ways I suppose.

You're taking SP2 RC1 off in order to put SP2 final on, so if an app truly
does need SP2 it will be getting it back quickly.

In either case, whether upgrading RC1 or uninstalling that and installing
SP2 final, I'd always suggest a backup first, in case you do run across
something weird.
