Win ME won't complete upgrade of old 'puter

Super duper. One more down and only 44,678,965,397,098.8 left to go (I'm
almost done on the .8 one) in the first stack ;)

Don't know what it is about some of those old Sound chips, they really screw
things up sometimes. Glad you got it.

If they have any PCI cards that's likely where the conflict was and the
'old' sound chips are more prone to it because they support 'DOS' sound
blaster mode, which uses ISA bus IRQs, so you have an on-board PCI slot
device emulating ISA IRQs that are not sharable and if you put a PCI card
in that happens to share the same PCI 'slot' with the onboard device then
you potentially have an unreconcilable sharing conflict.
