Win Installer just hangs installing or removing?

After a bad install of Symantec AV Corp edition (which has since been
removed) (May be not related to the issue, but it seems like it is)win
installer on w2k server just hangs at the hourglass. Same If I try to
uninstall something using add/Remove programs. I actually have to go to the
task manager and fight with the windows to end the task finally? While I am
on the subject also cannot launch the network connections applet either.
Just get the same soinning hourglass?????

Had a simular problem. Check Services for any service that is still starting.
Removing the program that is starting the service (that never starts) cleared
up the problem for me. Hope this helps.
