Win 98 back up disk unreadable in Win XP

I recently got a new computer with Win XP. I had backed up all my files on
floppy disk, and then transferred those to a CD. When I try to access the
files on my new computer, they are all in computer language. Can anyone tell
me what I should do to be able to access files in English??

What sort of files, how did you "back them up", and do you have a
compatable/similar program on the new computer to access those files?

Ooops... the Windows 98 backup program is incompatible with the Windows XP
backup program. I suspect there must be some kind of a workaround but I've
not heard of one. Sorry, that's not what you wanted to hear.....

The only fix I know of is a lot of time and work: find a third party backup
program that works on both Windows 98 and Windows XP, install it on both
computers, do a new backup of the old computer and then you'll be able to
read it on the new one.
