Win 2000 and "Add Printer" Wizard

I am running Win2000 SP4. I cannot get the "Add Printer"
wizard to open and run. I am trying to install an USB HP
Officejet 5510xi All-in-One. I am able to install the
software and Win sees the printer but it refuses to
install driver or put anything in the printer folder. I
had bought an Lexmark X125 all-in-one and returned it due
to the same problem but it seems my problem is with
Windows. Any help would be great for I have just wasted a
full day on this issue. Thank you in advance.

So Windows refuses to install the driver? Does it say "No"? : )
Maybe you could describe for us exactly what is happening.
Are there any errors in the system event log that relate? If so, please
copy and paste the error(s) into your reply

I am having the same problem. I am trying to install a hp
laserjet 4. The printer works fine (I had it do a self
test) and the cable is just fine (took it of a working
printer). I checked the system event viewer and could find
no errors concerning the printer or printer spooler. When
I try to use the add printer wizard, I double click on it
and nothing happens (I mean absolutely nothing as if i
didn't even click). Any help would be much apprecaited so
i don't have to do a reload.
