If you don't need Outlook, then you'd be better off with the latest release
of Open Office rather than Office 97. And it's FREE.

NOT knowing this site specified by databaseben, I would not
trust it. I would go to the Open Office web site and get
the proper links to download from an approved mirror site.

Yes Office 97 will work on XP as will Office 4.3 (for Win
3.1), Office 2000, 2002 (XP) and 2003. The jury is still
out on Office 2007.

The only known problem with Office 97 setup is if you get an
error message starting Access. It is in relation to
password or license. This is a known problem that was never
fixed by patch but there is a workaround. If you develop
the problem, rename the Hatten.ttf font in Windows\font to
another name then reinstall 97, then rename Hatten.ttf back
if you need the font.
