Widows Defender not supported in Windows Vista

I have not been able to force an update through about Widows Defender,or
through Microsoft Updates.
I have tried to reinstall but get error message "Widows Defender not
supported in Windows Vista"

I haven't had any problems with Defender under Vista, but I don't believe
that there is a download source for code upgrades--you must use what comes
with the build, although engine and definition upgrades should work.

Is Windows Update not working on this system? That seems the most likely
cause of your set of symptoms.

I find the update process a little strange--you open Windows Update or
"delicious amazing extras" (or whatever it is called)--and it says you are up
to date. You then have to click on check for updates or similar at the top
left before it actually checks on whether you are up to date.

There is no separate download for Defender in Windows Vista. We will have
spyware protection (defender) built into the Vista builds so you will not
need to download the version for Windows XP.
