Why would Word 2003 print from printer in shadows?

I have tried cleaning the printer cartridges and printer prints beautiful on
the printer test page. When I type on Word 2003 and print something it all
prints in shadows. Why? Please help!
 
Have you tried looking under Format | Font and making sure Shadow is
deselected? Please let me know if this is helpful.
