why won't vista turn off?

as per subject......i physically have to remove my battery from my laptop and
turn the power poit off at the wall to turn my computer off. It starts up
fine but just restarts are waiting for 15 minutes to turn off. I've tried
turning it off 8 times in a row over a period of 3 hours without starting
any applications. Any suggestions?

Have you recently installed any programs. applications or upgraded any device
drivers?
Can you start up in "Safe Mode", do so and take note of which
programs/services delay the startup.

I've had the same problem since installing Vista. Starting in safe mode
solves the problem. How do I isolate what is causing the problem?

Hi,

Use the system configuration utility (msconfig). Start by putting it in
diagnostic mode. If that works, more to selective startup and then disable
most everything on the startup tab. Reenable a few applications at a time
until the system will not load in normal mode, and then you will know that
the problem is isolated to the last group enabled. Restart in Safe mode and
deselect them.
