vista freezing after closing my laptop

i'm running windows vista home premium, and had many times closed my
laptop(foling the screen to my keyboard side) without problems.

but today if i open my laptop again windows is completely frozen
nothing moves, and i only see the screen i saw when i closed my laptop.

i've double-checked and as i expected, the setting for closing my laptop is
that it shouldn't do anything(so all it does is turn off the screen while
it's closed)
i have no screensaver.

could it be it suddenly got a conflict with my setting that after 15-20
minutes my display is turned off?(15-on battery,20-on power cable)

Have you updated the BIOS? Could you tell us the specs? Have you updated the
video drivers? Sounds like issues with Power Management.

my most recent "update" of a driver was my graphics card driver.
this was a few days ago,and was neccesery because a program tried to
forcefully install directX9 on my PC,this caused my drivers to become
partially corrupted.
i reinstalled the drivers with the exact same version(since it was the
latest available version)

tough this can't be the problem
last night i left my laptop running the whole night, closed.
and in the morning it was still working normally.

however during the afternoon it started freezing(only difference between the
2 situations is that during the night i had my laptop plugged into the
power, however besides the screen turn-off time there's no difference in the
settings for battery and powercable settings)

Did you uninstall the corrupted Graphics Driver first?
Remnants of the corrupted one could be the prob.

seems the problem fixed itself
haven't had any problems since i posted this topic.
i think the setup of my graphics driver removed the previous version first,
and if not it would overwrite it completely anyway.
