Why so Many "Automatic Updates"

Seems to me that I am averaging several automatic updates per week.

SO, I have these questions:

1) It is possible for XP to install the same update twice under different
users?

2) Is these a special place in XP where ALL updates are logged in?

1) No. System files are updated and they are for all users.
2) You can see the Updates in the Add/Remove Programs in
Control Panel. Also the Update Uninstall information is
stored in folders under c:\Windows. You will see them at
the top of the list of folders.
