x1a4,

Sincerely, what is your true intended purpose repeatedly demonstrating your
more than too obvious deficient academic skill?

Or, are you merely envious that Windows Vista is our Worlds most Secure and
most advanced Ultimate state-of-the-art Operating System?

If it comes from becta, you should know this would happen. they are very
stingy with thier money, and this all comes down to the new activation
prcedures that are applied to both vista and office 2007. Which is thier main
reason for not getting it.
IBM will not use Windows Vista - but will move to Linux desktops
http://www.neoseeker.com/news/story/5436/

This has been in the works for years with IBM. They have been working with
open source pretty much since OS2. This is not vista specific.

Strange that his long list of bugs pretty much only revolves around windows
media player and his inability to get certain plugins and add ons to work
with it. The OS hasn't even been officially released yet, 9 more days, and
most software vendors havent even released vista specific updates to thier
programs yet, so not something i would spit out specificly against vista.

Again this is all about how Becta does not want to have to actually buy
the licensing that everyone in the world has been. Reading thru this, it
actually appears that becta schools have been illegaly installing copies of
microsoft products using the same keys, and going outside the bounds of thier
contract. thier #1 reason for not upgrading to office 2007 and vista, they
can no longer do this. The new activation FORCES them to follow the rules.

First, I would only believe half of what you read in theinquirer. Secondly,
if this is suposedly a business computer, why is he talking about himself
having to fork over the money to pay for licensing constantly. I'm fairly
sure that there are some volume licensing deals that can be got, that would
take care of this. There are many business in the tech, review, testing world
that do this constantly. Maybe he should talk to them, and see how they do
it? This whole article feels like a rant from an imature child that doesn't
get what it wants anymore.
There are many things that are different, and have to be different with
vista in the programing world. This is basicly the same old thing up thru
launch. I would give it about 6 months and THEN see how people are reacting.

I also use Vista on 3 of my systems and am enjoying the added features. Here is just a few of the features that either my family members and/or I really like.
a.. Better Graphics
b.. Improved finding files
c.. Better built in security (I also use Live One Care as a added bonus)
d.. Built in Parental Controls (3rd party companies can build on top of the parental controls)
e.. Windows Meeting Space is a great feature for both training in businesses and meetings

I have vista installed on my system - dual booted with XP pro. Have been beta testing since the start so have seen it progress and improve all thanks to the people who are willing to put the time in to improve things. The only problems I have had with vista personally came up in this order....

Web downloaded version of HP printer software would not install - as in the installer wouldnt work. This was mainly something that HP did I think to the installer as the original dizk with XP drivers worked fine!

And some music I purchased from Tescos online music store are not able to be played in vista, but come up with a licensing error - which says to me that Tescos need to update their licenses as it still works in XP, and other music I purchased elsewhere works fine!

Other than that, my mail opens quicker, my computer is more secure, my games including battlefield2, bf2SF, AF, EF, and battlefield 2142 ALL run better on vista than they do on XP, The look and feel of the main windows area is more friendly and a pleasure to use especially with Aero Glass running.

Networking while a little more involved is in some ways more flexible than XP, and the old server OS's, and you can get more details abou the connection status etc. Router connections to the internet have more useful info, and have better repair facilites.

Memory is utilised much more effectively and efficiently with windows automatically taking unnecessary programs and services down to HDD to free up memory when you go to open large resource hungry programs, a friendlier parental control interface, the list could go on for hours really, but the majority of people who have it and have used it for any lngth of time would hopefully agree with me when I say this is a good step forward and is a massive improvement from microsoft (except from the licensing stuff which isnt an issue for me, and wont be that big an issue for most home and small business users)

Do you have a copy of Vista? Do you have a computer capable of running vista? If not - is this just sour grapes from a misinformed individual who is basing everything on some dubious documents produced for the web?, which everyone knows only harbours pure, innocent and above all honest people!

Bear in mind that yes there ARE pure, innocent, and above all honest people on the internet, but there are a lot of Dishonest, biggoted, bare faced liars out there too whos main goal in life is to use their talents listed a second ago to try and destroy people through jealousy.

Doh, and your post was pretty good up until this paragraph. Numerous
benchmarks posted by professional sites have shown that almost all full 3D
games will play slower on Vista. The security features of Vista take up more
system resources and slow down the system measurably.

You had us going for a second, but clearly you don't actually run these
games on both Vista and XP to know the truth.

Check here for some hard data:

http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/29/xp-vs-vista/page4.html#3d_games

Actually, regarding games performance I belive it's all about the new
display driver model. In XP the video driver runs in kernel mode and in
Vista most of the driver code runs in user mode (slowly of course). But as
hardware is faster and faster every day soon we'll not see the difference
anymore.

I have just upgrded to vista and found a marked improvment on most things, i
do not play alot of games but have noticed the ones i do play are smother
faster and bug free with no patches needed as with XP. i have also found that
is shed loads better at multitasking, XP would start strugling when i would
edit a picture burn a dvd and play music vista doesn't, ifact i am sat here
with about 10 programmes running, yes there are some bugs to get over like
installing flash player but try and tell me that XP did not have the same
problems, dam it they are still releasing updates for XP, nothing is perfect.

it could just be that x1a4 is scared of change and progressing into the
future, and so for the licencing inthink it right for them to have to pay for
all of the copies that they need, but they will stop moaning when the price
comes down and software stops working with XP. just so you know i only spent
out £550($1,102.204) pounds on all of my hardware and £170($360.721) for
genuine vista ultimate so all of the moans and gripes are complete crap
