Why is my dvd drive not being detected

Im absolutly sure I installed it correctly.
It wil open and close but is not being detected.
Im Using Dell Bios

Dell Bios
Win Xp Home Edition
The Device should be slaved to A Dell CD/Cd-R/Cd-rw/Drive
It is a I/O Magic 16x dvd drive
 
have you tried setting the new drive as a master and the original cd drive as
a slave, see it shows then, remember to set the jumpers correctly on the back
of the devices
 
In my Dell the IO MAGIC works fine. Most DELLs are set up as Cable Select
(CS) so try setting the jumpers on the drive to CS..
