Hi,

Im using Win XP SP3 and recently I dropped my External HDD (Trekstor Maxi
N.U ) about 2 feet and now its not being detected at all in windows. Not in
My computer or Disk management.

There is power because the light is on like normal and the drive is
spinning. I changed the USB cable but still the problem exists.

I also removed the cover and re-seated the drive on the board connector but
still the problem exists.

Any ideas ?

Your HD is now dead and you need to buy a new one. Not only you dropped
it but you also opened it and tampered with connections.

Hope this helps.

My idea is its probably dead, and even if you were able to temporarily
resurrect it, you wouldn't want to use it. I suppose you could try some
third party disk utilities, however.

It's possible that your drive's power supply is damaged. The USB
connection is powered by a 5V power input so that's why the light comes
on, but the drive itself is powered by a 12V input. They are both
supplied by the power supply brick that came with it, but on separate
pins. If you have a voltage tester, you might be able to detect each
pin. If not, then you might want to find another similar power brick and
see if changing to it helps.
