why doesnt the page number show on my document in 2007 ?

I have added the word count button to my ribbon but for some reason the
number of pages & words in my document is not showing at the bottom of the
screen. The word count is zero & appears to be greyed out - the number of
pages is not even listed! Can anyone advise please?

Have you right clicked on the Status Bar and checked the Page Number box?
