Ok system I have
Packard Bell
AMD Athlon 64 processor 3800+ 2.4 GHz
768MB RAM
Vista home premium 32 bit
was working fine for a while then out of blue I cant use word and I also
cannot download anything from the internet! It starts to download and it
gets to 1 sec remaining and freezes/hangs? does absolutely nothing then didly
squat!
I have searched the forums and this seems to have happened to a few people
but the suggestions have not helped my problem i.e. turned off firewall ,
turned off protected mode on IE 7 and still nothing .
I am getting increasingly frustrated........
can anyone help a complete novice/technophobe

Hello Ann,

Yep, me too noticed this same "one-sec-freeze" on most of my downloads;
yaks!! But then when I checked this software in my folder "Downloads"
(which I selected prior of starting the download-process itself by clicking
first at "Save"), I noticed that the...COMPLETE software was actually
"there" with not one single "bit" missing (true!).

So in order to verify this in YOUR case, just write down the size (in MB)
of the complete soft and verify if this value is 100% identical in your
folder
where you stored this soft...

And for the other problem of yours (no access to Word), hmm are you
referring perhaps to..."Office 2007" which is...ONLY a "time limited"
free SAMPLE product of Vista??

With best regards from Switzerland,
Philippe

hi ann

most notebooks comes with the trail version of office 2007 and i guess the
reason why WORD is not working is that you might have to get the full version
of it, regarding the IE hanging up while downloading it a SPYWARE problem,
all you have to do is download a free spyware software online and run
it........

this is were you can download such software <www.download.com> the software
would be ADWARE
