why does outlook still say offline after removing exchange account

I removed a microsft exchange account from my profile in Outlook 2003, which
also has several pop3 accounts. For some reason, Outlook is still displaying
"offline" in the bottom right hand-corner of the window. Why is this? Is it
because outlook has stored messages and other items in an offline folder? If
so, is there a way to eliminate the offline folder without losing those items?

Thanks,
Paul
