Why does my sound diisappear?

I am on cable broadband, tend to leave it on most of the time, and when
my computer does whatever it does, hibernate or stand by (I'm not quite
sure), the sound goes off, and I need to reboot to get it back. What can
I do to fix this? I'm not very technical (at all!) but can follow
directions. Would appreciate a direct reply. Many thanks.

To check your Power options: control Panel/power options
under Power Schemes......set it to always on
under Hibernate.......turn it off.uncheck the box.

If it is another problem post back
