Why do my hyperlinks not work?

I have carefully followed the FrontPage instructions for hyperlinks to other
sites on the web but when I click on them they lead to the 'cannot find
server' screen although I know perfectly well that the server is there!
There may some basic and obvious thing I am not doing, so I would welcome any
suggestions to point me in the right direction.

probably because

1) you either put the address in incorrectly

2) the web site it doesn't exist.

what site(s) are you trying to link to? - can you visit the sites you're linking
(the URLs).

Are you using FrontPage's Preview mode (the tab at the bottom next to Design
and Code)? Hyperlinks don't work in Preview mode:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823720 Use your
browser instead (File | Preview in Browser).
