editing hyperlinks very slowwwww

I recently started having problems editing or creating hyperlinks on
one of my websites. I edit my sites directly on the server rather than
my pc. I dont like to keep publishing from my computer to the server.
When I right click and then try to edit a hyperlink or create a
hyperlink it takes forever for the box to come up and also takes
forever to see the pages in the web (in that box). If I should need to
navigate up or down a level in the box again more time! I can edit the
web on my pc just fine, but not live. Other webs I have on the same
server (a VPS) work fine. I went into the control panel and reset the
frontpage extensions for that site and still have the same problem. I
even deleted all of the pages on that site and with only one word on
the index page it still has the same problem. Any Ideas?

Clear your browser temporary internet and history files, and then:
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with Expression Web Designer and
SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.

See if it helps.

Thanks for the response.
Cool Program but unfortunately it dint fix the problem. Before posting
I found a MS fix and it said to replace all your pages (in a nutshell)
thats why I tried deleting everything (after saving the website) and
trying just one word on one page and then hyperlinking it to the same
page. Still did not work. I think that I will call my hosting service
and reset the entire domain on the server and add fresh frontpage
extensions. Im thinking frontpage may not be the issue, the server
maqy have issues since other webs I host there dont have the same
problem. I will post again when I have tried it.

I think I found the answer by accident. I had a page named "HOME" in a
folder I used to seperate multiple pages that should be grouped
together so I didnt have to search through the entire list of pages to
find them. I recently imported my site to a folder on my desktop and
FP told me I had an index page and do I want to replace it. I said yes
and it finished, but not before I looked at the address. It was in the
a folder not in the main web. Since the name of the page was home.htm
I think FP thought it was an index page not a page on the site. I
renamed the page to household and now I can edit hyperlinks okay SO
FAR. I will work on the site for a couple of days and see what happens
and report back.

Nope that wasnt the fix. Somehow when I imported my site FP started
working right for direct web editing. After a reboot of my system its
back to snail editing of my hyperlinks. Dang I thought I had it. I
still havent had a chance to delete the site from the server and have
the domain name deleted from the server so I can add it again (see if
the domain is damaged on the server.) Oh Well! slow editing till
Monday or Tuesday when I can do the server thing. I tried repairing
the FP extensions on the server and that didnt help so last resort is
to redo the domain name. Any other Ideas before I do that?

I am able to edit hyperlinks for now. I cleaned up my NETWORK PLACES
and deleted the connection to the site there (along with several other
sites and places that dont exist any more). I have been able to work
directly on the site and hyperlinks wothout the lag. I think it may
have just been gummed up with old network places and it was trying to
go places it cant see any more. I will post again and let people know
if the fix stayed working.

So far the problem has not come back. The night I deleted the excess
network places I also ran the FP cleaner and used the MRU portion of
it as well as the suggested above. I dont know which one did it but it
works correctly for now. It has been several days since I had the
problem and I have been able to edit hyperliks without waiting through
several games of solitaire for the edit hyperlinks button to show up.
If this was happening to someone I would probably tell them to use the
FP cleaner and delete all of their network places that dont belong in
their computers any more including the problem website letting windows
renew the connection to the site again.
note: I never did have to delete the domain from the server and then
reinstall the domain name and site.
