Hyperlinks

I upgraded my machine to Vista and am using Frontpage 2003 running in
administrator mode. I can no longer create a hyperlink when updating a page
online. When I try, I get an application error and have to shut FP down.

I am also using Expression web and can add the hyperlinks using with that.
However, web expression takes forever to load as it configures itself
evertime. I have several customers who use FP and would like to continue
using it.

Any ideas?

You have my deepest sympathies.

You have noticed that Vista gives no clues as to the error? No numbers.
No info. No nothing. Just "An error has occurred." Goodness, isn't that
helpful? Wouldn't want to confuse the paying public with some info I guess.

Yeah, I've got one. Tell your customers NOT to upgrade to Vista. It is a
waste of time and money.

Many of them do not have a choice.

I read an article n a trade journal a few weeks ago that PC shops are
making a killing ripping Vista out of machines that came pre-loaded and
replacing it with XP. I've done it myself. Meanwhile manufacturers are
still making and selling machines pre-loaded with XP in them because
consumer demand is still there for XP.

There are choices and if you don't advise your customers about them,
then you aren't doing your job.

This is a problem that Microsoft will NEVER fix - that is for sure. They
have known about it for over 6 months but are simply not interested in
fixing this problem that apparently plagues a lot of users. The canned
response by MS and its MVPs ("They know about it and are working on a fix")
does not mean a thing. While "they know about it" part is true', 'they are
working on it' is a blatant lie. I've been hearing it for months.

You have three choices - 1. Get rid of Vista (MS does not want that to
happen); 2. Buy Expression Web (MS wants you to do that; hence no fix for
this major glitch; or 3. Keep the FP, keep the Vista, but don't work live on
your web site. Publish the entire site to your local hard drive on Vista
computer; update it as needed and then publish it.

So there you go. The choice is yours but if you keep waiting for a fix for
this problem, you are wasting your time. It ain't gonna happen, ever!

A fourth choice, as many MVPs would suggest, would be to work in code view.
Sorry I missed that.
