why can't i send e-mails from outlook?

says there is problem with my in-mail server and ougoing mail server. both
servers are entered correctly. POP3 for incoming and SMTP outgoing. still
does not work. any ideas?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
