why can't i see the bottom bar in explorer...?

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that I can't view the bottom bar in
IE. The bar that displays loading status and link info when you mouse
over links. I've browsed the internet options and am unable to find a
selection where I can get the bar to reappear. I'm running version
internet explorer 6.0. Is there any way I can get the bottom bar to
reappear?
Any responses would be appreciated.
