Why are my Office programs stalling?

U

ubcbog

When I use Word, Office and Excel, every few minutes my cursor turns into the
hourglass and just hangs there for about 10 seconds. I think this started
after I installed Acrobat Professional 8, so I uninstalled it to download
some Office updates, etc.

The hang ups didn't occur while Acrobat wasn't running, and started again
when I reinstalled it (I think). However, uninstalling Acrobat a second time
didn't fix the stalling, so I've reinstalled it and am trying not to get too
annoyed at the constant stalling. Doesn't happen when I'm using Explorer or
Acrobat.

Any brilliant solutions out there?

This is somewhat the wrong forum to have the discussion, but I have noticed a
drastic similar issue myself since I install Acrobat as well. Computer is
dead slow with certain apps. Sadly, uninstalls do not all perform a good job
of cleaning up after themselves, so.... you may have to think about
reformatting...

Are there any updates available from Adobe for the version of Acrobat
Pro?

Otherwise junk it.

One thing I've found is that Adobe doesn't remove or replace old versions when
an update comes out - I was cleaning up a friend's computer and must have used
Add and Remove Programs to remove half a dozen old instances of Acrobat (each
over 100MByte). If you uninstall - check and uninstall all of them (and then,
maybe, download and install the latest, if you trust it).
