Word 2007 and Acrobat

Using Word 2007 and Acrobat 9 Professional. All have been updated. The
Acrobat tab has been there since installation. Recently there was a conflict
when converting to a pdf and now the Acrobat tab is no longer there. I've
repaired Acrobat twice and did a clean install (uninstall then re-install)
three times. Tried everything from the Adobe page except editing the
registry.

When I go to Word options/Add Ins/Manage COM Add-ins the pdf maker is
unchecked. When I check it at the bottom it reads "Load Behavior: Unloaded"
so that even if I check it the tab does not appear.

The tab is showing up on all other Office Pro 2007 apps and was there in
Word until I hit that conflict that shut down Word.

Can anyone help?

Somebody please help! I'm having the exact same problem. Sorry I don't have
a solution for you Tom. This is a very frustrating problem!!

With Word closed locate the following registry entry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins\PDFMaker.OfficeAddin
Ensure that the REG_DWORD subkey 'LoadBehaviour' has a value of 3

Thank you Graham!

I found your invaluable website last night in my many hours of trying to fix
this problem. I was almost able to open the registry to the path you
indicated. I can get this far.. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office
and then my choices are "12.0" and "Outlook"....there is not a "Word" file.
There is an "Addins" folder in the Outlook folder, but my problem is in Word.


Within the 12.0 folder there are two folders "MsoExample" and "User
Settings" ...Any other ideas?

If you have installed add-ins in Word, that entry should be present in the
registry, which begs the question why is it missing? It would be simple
enough to add-it, but whether that would fix the issue is a different
matter.

I would check that in the add-ins list (Word Options >Add-ins) that Acrobat
is not flagged as disabled (though I would have expected this to remove the
ribbon).

I would be inclined to delete or rename the Word data key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
which has a habit of accidental corruption under some circumstances, and
*before restarting Word*

Repair Office from the original installation disc setup and repair Acrobat
and see where that gets you.
