Who changed something, and what, in my PC?

My OS is Win2000 NT.
In the past I installed a game on the PC and it run.
Then I disinstalled it.

Now I've bought the expansion

When I've tried to install again the game it doesn't install so I
cannot even install the expansion.

I didn't change anything in the PC.
I just updated the OS on the MS site and the AV on its own site.

Is it possible the regular MS updates (or the AV updates) change
something and this does not let me run again the game I installed in
the past?

In what way does the install fail?

The only given message is:
Interface not supported.
And that is all!

You may want to check at the Tech Support web site for this game and see
if other people are reporting this error.
