Hi,
would appreciate any help, I know what you will say, don't fiddle, but I
don't know how I did it but when I switch my computer on it gives me three
different choices to boot up. Windows xp, Windows 98, and Windows setup.
The only one that works, after I have selected it is Windows Xp. Yes I was
messing around, had the XP disc in but don't know how I got the other two
selections on. The thing is how do I get rid of them. I won't do it again
!!
Thanks Guys

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Click on the BOOT.INI tab and then click on "Check All Boot Paths"
to delete incorrect boot paths.

If the above does not work for you, then:

Right-click MY COMPUTER and select:

Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery Settings > Edit

CAREFULLY edit your boot.ini file to remove the SECOND & THIRD entries.
Your boot.ini file should then look similar to this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect

Hi

Go to msconfig - boot.ini tab. Click on 'Check all boot paths'. You will be given the option to delete the ones that you don't want to show on booting/rebooting your PC - select 'Yes' for those - be careful which ones you delete!!

Please note: if you have the Recovery Console installed you may get the same option to delete that - you will need to select 'No' for that one so as to be able to boot into RC when/if needed.

Start - Run - MSConfig.exe. On the BOOT.INI page, click 'Check all
Paths'. You will be given the chance to delete ones that do not work
