Which is better for these Contacts?

Using Outlook 2003, sp-1, on Exchange 2003. Have set up 115 Contacts on
custom forms (some forms containing up to 40 categories).

I am unable to create a distribution list from these Contacts; I can set up
the list and add names to it but when I click on Save and Close Outlook
freezes (no error). Repeatedly. Even while attempting to set up the DL on
different PCs.

These Contacts were created a year ago; they are stored in a public folder
and the user permissions have to be regranted from time to time -- the
permissions seem to just "go away" every few months.

Generally speaking, do you think Outlook is robust enough to handle this
type/amount of custom Contacts? If not, should I attempt to import these
Contacts into Excel or Access? If yes, any advice to avoid a mess while
importing? (I think importing into Access will entail VBA, which is a road I
don't want to travel...ha ha.)

Thank you so much for your time.

have a read of the many posts here about Dist Lists and then tell us what
you are hoping to achieve by having them - they are described as "flaky"
almost daily here.

Grouping and using Views then mailmerging etc offers much more power and
reliability.
