Hi,

I'm looking to buy a basic PC just for internet, e-mail and word processing.
Since it is not for myself, but for somebody with a limited knowledge of
computers I want to buy from a company that offers very good support
preferably over the phone. I've seen a couple of companies but they seem to
either do all their support over the internet or charge £1/min. for
telephone support.

Which companies should I turn to?

im guessing if you are after a basic no frills PC then you could try Dell out - i just have no idea what their customer support is like.

I don't know about suppliers of just complete systems, but out of all the components suppliers the only two I've never had a problem with discussing stuff on the telephone have been overclock.co.uk and kustom PC's.

As for people like Dell, Mesh, etc., I have not a clue, I've never bought an off the shelf system.

Oh, and this may sound obvious, but avoid Microdirect (see other related threads on this Forum).

With all due respect due to recent experience.. avoid MicroDirect as well.

Evesham seem to have good support from what I've heard.

I've also never had a problem getting through to Scan :)
