Where's SP2?

I've always had auto-updates enabled with manual install - but so far
SP2 has not appeared. If I run Windows Update it says nothing is
available.

Did MS give a time frame for auto updates?

Windows Update will start downloading SP2 tomorrow (16Aug) but it will be
staggered so don't expect it immediately.

www.langa.com Read item 1 in the current newsletter.

Suggest you turn off your auto-update. Suggest that before your manual
update you:

If you are using Norton Anti-virus or other Norton system utilities do a
manual update.
Do a system anti-virus scan,
Do a system pest scan,
Do a disk cleanup on your primary drive,
Do a defrag on your primary drive,
Image your system or at least your primary drive.

Try turning on fully automatic updates-select the field in which you specify
the time for the updates to be installed. Go to the Windows update website
to verify that it is set up correctly. Alos, BE SURE to back up your data
before you install it. Don't just do a backup on that computer either - do
it on at least two different media. It was my fault, but I got burned when I
re-installed XP the other day. Go to www.pcworld.com for very informative
computer tips, including backup.
