I've had auto update enabled now for two days but nothing! At first it told
me SP2 was available so I clicked download, but nothing!

One more thing, I'm on dialup and don't want to download the huge mega file
for networks, I would just like to get this download started automatically
whenever I'm online.

Go to Microsoft Downloads and Download the IT and Developers version of
SP2. I have had no problems unlike others that had the update version. Good

I believe that once you've accepted the download it can be delayed over
several days to spread the load on the servers.
Perhaps you need to leave your PC on al the time. I have my download set to
"notify me but don't download" and I haven't seen anything yet.

I don't mind if the download is spread over several days as long as it's
downloading but I can't keep my PC online 24 hours a day as it ties up the
phone line.

Just an update, I have notification of SP2 last night and chose to ignore it
until this morning. When I selected download it appeared to do nothing as I
suspect yours did. After an hour still nothing (I have broadband) so I went
to the windows update site and that carried out a check of my system after
the usual checking the PC and then told me of a 98M update to download.
Previous to this I was up to date with all current critical updates but it
still took its time to download and install SP2, which is now installed and
working.
