Wheres Net logon

G

Guest

I realise this may be a silly question but where on earth is the net logon
service in the services list!! I have a number of XP machines running on my
network, ut on one particular machine I can't see the net logon service. I
have a 98 machine that is trying to connect to a printer hanging off the
aforementioned machine but I keep getting the IPC$ password box. I looked on
MS support and the fix for 2k machines is to ensure the net logon service is
running. so I figured I could apply the same to XP, but this machine doesn't
have the service!!! I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious, but I can't
see it. Can anyone help me?

Many thanks

I have the same problem , I check it everywebsite but i couldn't fint it
..
But if you use XP home version , you should look for security tab .But you
can not see if you log on normally.
You have to log on in safe mode , then you can open a file as a sharing
while you are doing this , you can give a permison for everyone. I haven't
test it yet , but it must be working .
Anyway , i am stiil keep looking for it .
By the way if Automatic Update is on , you must cancel it .When Home
version download some security patch file , it blocks the sharing , i
don't know why even i checked all firewall setting.

Good luck

Hi Rob,

It uses the guest account for this type of sharing. What you have is an
authentication problem. Start/run secpol.msc, in the local polices\security
options, enable "let everyone permissions apply to anonymous users". See if
this helps.
