XP pro 'forgets' about mapped drives

Hi,

Normally when I have assigned a drive mapping in XP it 'sticks' every
time I log on or start up as long as I ticked the 'Reconnect at logon'
box when the mapping was created.

However now I then I run into computers or situations where I must remap
the drive every time I logon. How can I avoid that?

I mean - what can be wrong? - because I don't want to give ut and create
a 'net use ...' batch file...

When the computer boots do you see a message "Network drives
weren't connected" ( not exact text ) ? Are these computers home
based ( Workgroup ) or business domain computers ? If home do
they use the same Security software ? Without more information it
isn't possible to give you specific help.

Open a Command Prompt on the affected machine and type this command:

net use /persistent:yes{Enter}

Sorry, this is a domain member computer having mapped a hidden share at
a file server.

There is no message at boot up and we only expect the drive to appear
when the user logs in (to w2003 dcs) at his office each morning.

I get your point, but why would this be necessary as long as we already
have checked the 'Reconnect' checkbox...?

Sorry, can't tell without sitting in front of the machine myself. The
solution I suggested is purely pragmatic: If things don't work out with one
method, try another method.
