I have a major problem!

I recetly Upgraded to Windows XP from Windows 98. I thought Windows
Installation would tranfer My Documents to Windows XP, but it didn't.

Is there any way I can go back and recover My Documents? There were some
inportant Documents which I needed, and didn't backup.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Is there no My Documents in Start Menu? If there is a My Documents folder in
Start Menu then you can right-click on it and select "Show on Desktop", if
you want it on your Desktop.

You can also check another location like:

Open My Computer - C Drive - Documents and Settings Folder - your User Name
folder - then My Documents.

Hope this help, Let us know!

If a search proves they're truly missing, download and run Restoration
or another Undelete program. The more you use the hd with the deleted
files, the more data you overwrite.

What sort of upgrade did you do?

If it involved a reformat of your hard drive then your documents are
gone! Did you not have them backed up somewhere other than you hard
drive?

If there was no reformat then they should still be there.

From memory, Windows 98 used a folder:-

C:\My Documents

to store the items. See if you can find that then, if you do, you can
move the files to the new My Documents folder. In XP this should be
here:-

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\My Documents

A properly done Upgrade should have transfered the My Documents folder.
You may have to do a search for your files.
