Lost documents

I recently performed a system restore because I my system would not let me
into windows. I thought I had saved my documents but they were not saved.
Is there any way to recover word and excel documents?

If your "system restore" included formatting your hard disk, there is no way
to recover anything from the disk, short of bringing the disk to a
professional recovery outfit, where you will pay dearly.

If you were able to boot Windows in the Safe Mode before the System
Restore: undo the System Restore, boot Windows, save your files and
redo the System Restore operation.

How exactly did you do this system restore? Did you use the XP
installation CD and if so how exactly or did you use some recovery
process and recovery CD as instructed by the tech support for your
computer? Whichever it was, it may have overwritten the data files.
You might be able to recover some but the odds are not good and the more
you use the computer the lesser is the chance for data recovery.
Deleted data is not removed from the drive, just it's space marked as
available. Next time stop using the computer immediately until you try
some recovery options.

Here are some utilities that can look for and recover deleted files.

Executive Software “Undelete”:

To prevent data loss in the future always have a current, full and
complete backup.

When you lose files or delete them and then find you need them you 'must'
stop using your pc straight away. The files are there but the more you use
the pc the more the likelihood of them being overwritten. If they have been
overwritten then the chances are very poor for a full recovery. There is an
application called Restoration which is good for recovering files. Download
it for free from
