where is my pst hiding?

due to an earlier recommendation to scan the pst file (since my
incoming e-mails seem to be disappearing into oblivion) I attempted to
scan the pst. However, upon opening the scanpst utility, and search
for the pst file(s), they do not appear where they are listed in the
search utility. I suspect they are hidden...but don't know how to
reveal them so I can scan them... Help me before I place my foot
through this nice 19" flat panel monitor... :)

First you might have to enable or SHOW Hidden files and folders from Tools -
Folder Options in an open Windows Explorer.

Then proceed to
C:\Documents and Settings\'USERNAME' or 'USERPROFILE'\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Here is where you will find Archive.PST

If you want to move it somewhere reasonable you may but you will have to
exit out of Outlook before doing so. And if you want to open it to access old
email that has been archived...you can go to File-Open-Outlook Data File and
select the PST you just moved and/or located.

I believe they're looking for the actual PST and not the archived emails. The
default name of the Outlook data file is outlook.pst unless it's been renamed.

Unhide hidden files and folders using Windows Explorer. Tools > Folder
Options > View : check show hidden files & folders and uncheck hide known
file extensions.
Then search again for *.pst. You may have two PST files come up, one may be
archive.pst. The archive.pst is your archived emails. You would be looking
for the other PST that holds your current mail, calendar, contacts, etc.
Normally it's called outlook.pst unless you renamed it.
