XP Pro. I want to re-assign a drive letter. Windows Help (don't
search under re-assign, look under assign) links to Computer
Management (local). How can I create a shortcut to this utility?
Or this there some other route already existing? Can't see it in
Control Panel.

Open Windows Explorer : start>All Programs>accesories.
Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\System32\diskmgmt.msc .
You can double click this or you can right click it and
create a shortcut then Highlight the shortcut and
Edit>Move To . Either Desktop or C:Documents and
Settings\"your name"\start menu\programs .you will now
have a shortcut to the tool to change your drive letter.

In Control Panel, click on Admininstrative Tools, and you'll see it
there. You can drag a copy of this shortcut to the desktop or other folder.

YOu can run it directly with the command

compmgmt.msc

Hi

Start>Run - then type in "diskmgmt.msc" - without the quotes. To create a Desktop icon:

Right click the desktop, select New>Shortcut and type the following into the first box that appears:

%systemroot%\system32\diskmgmt.msc

Hi Kelly

'Variation on a theme'? I dived straight into Disk Management whereas the OP ask for Computer Management. Replacing 'diskmgmt.msc' with 'compmgmt.msc' works with both options. Personally, I find that I don't get so much grief, if my 'better half' has a Desktop icon to double-click on <VBG>

Hi Will,

All sounds good. :o)

My reply meant that in OE on this new install, replies to messages aren't
showing up until I reply. Thus, the new one for me.
