Where did the Hibernate Tab go ??

K

I have XP Pro set up on a couple different partitions.

On the one partition, the Hibernate Tab does NOT appear under the Power
Options. On another partition it appears and I'm able to use the Hibernate
function with no issues.

So how do get the Hibernation Tab to appear under the Power Options on the
other partition ??

TIA,

ACPM (Advanced Computer Power Management) is listed in devmgmt.msc (device
manager) under the 'computer' item. The Properties of ACPM are going to be
'Standard PC (no 'standby' available) or one of several alternatives for
systems that can use standby. (usually dependant on the 'atx' style case and
MoBo)

That said, to find out what is going on, you should determine the settings
on the first partition, (the one that works), and the other failing
partition. There setting CAN be changed (update driver button in Properties,
and so on), but it's a one way door. Changing from "Multi...." to "Standard
PC" can't be reversed in devmgmt.msc. You have to run XP setup again. (i.e
devmgmt.msc will Not change standard to multi)

Your hibernation feature is probably disabled because the setup (on the
failing partition) is set to an unreachable state for ACPM (in terms of the
hardware you have on the machine) No one here on the newsgroup is going to be
able to guess what is going on till you take a look at the variables I'm
mentionoing here.

The partitions are located on separate HDs.

The HD where the Hibernate mode works is an 80GB Maxter 7200, the other HD
in question where the Hibernate Mode does NOT appear is a 40GB WD 5400.

Could the difference(s) in the harddrives cause this issue ???
