when press the shutdown button the standby mode is disable

i hv one laptop install win XP pro but when i press the shutdown button the
standby mode is disable how to enable the standby mode, i go to contol
panel>power option properties there have no option to check. how to solve
this problem

Reinstall your Video Adapter *Manufacture's* Drivers.
