Need Help - Laptop Standby Mode

J

Jim

My friend has a Gateway laptop which he claims won't go into the standby
mode. When I looked at the Power Options on his computer, I saw that there
are only settings for turning off the HD and turning off the monitor, both
on battery or Plugged in - no option for standby.
Also noted that the "turn off" option for the monitor does not appear to
work, the screen saver just comes on,

Is this normal or am I missing something?

TIA

Hi Jim,

Your friend needs to download and apply all the Hotfixes and all
optional Software, including .Net Framework 3.0 before installing Windows XP
Service Pack 3. .Net Framework 3.0 will not install under Windows XP Service
Pack 3.

Nero 9 and above requires .Net Framework 3.0

Was the Laptop recently restored?

I just downloaded & installed the video driver for this laptop and that
solved the problem - and yes, the system was recently restored .

Many thanks.
