When I try to shut-down, machine restarts

When I try to shut-down my mavhine using Windows XP, it automatically
restarts. I checked for virus & there is none and no obvious event in the
logs either! What could it be?
BTW, I have also disabled (unchecked) "restart windows" option in the
Startup & Reovery of my computer properties.
What can I do to fix this problem?

TIA,
- Manish

Thanks for the pointers, restart problem is now solved, but I am having
another problem now. My machine is running fine without aproblem, but when I
try to copy data on DVD, it suddenly shuts down - the problem only occurs
while DVD/CD writing - no issues while reading. I tried updating drivers,
but no luck! The system shuts down - but interestingly power LED is onn, so
it could be hibernation, but no activity brings it back to life - as such I
have kept hibernation off my PC.

I am using Samsung Writemaster DVD writer which uses Nero suite. What can I
do to fix this problem now. Please give some ideas as it is geting very
frustrating!!!

It shuts down or restarts?
Have you checked event log for any errors?

It might be caused by insufficient power supply...

Your problem smacks of being hardware related. Could be a heat issue.
Burning is resource intensive. Do you have the system overclocked? If so set
it back. Check to ensure your cpu fan is working correctly. Another
possibility is your power supply. Some systems come with cheaped out power
supplies, these begin to fail and they cause all kinds of grief.

Nah, I reinstalled DVD writer drivers & everything is working fine now.
